Frequently Asked Questions

Is it legal to purchase firearms online?  Yes, most definitely.  Please see our simple 3 step process for Purchasing Your Firearm.  The ATF considers your Firearms Transfer to be the transaction or "purchase" and not your payment.

Does my firearm ship to me?  No, definitely not.  Please see our simple 3 step process for Purchasing Your Firearm.  All transactions must be in person and require a background check as well as paperwork from an FFL in the state which you reside.

Do other items ship to me?  Of course, they will be shipped to the address you specify at checkout.

How about restricted items?  Yes, they will be shipped to the address you specify at checkout too as long as you can legally own the item in your jurisdiction.  Connecticut, for example, forbids magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.  So if you live in the People's Republic of Connecticut and purchase a 10 round magazine it will ship to you.  However, if you purchase a 30 round magazine your order will be cancelled.  Don't try it, it won't work.

How long does it take for my order to arrive?  Most orders will leave our warehouses in 2-3 days.  Factor in shipping time of another 2-4 days and your order should arrive in most cases within 4-7 days.

Do you have a store I can visit?  No, we are an online only shop

I live in Connecticut but the gun I want doesn't have a 10 round variant.  So I can't buy it, right?  No, with us you have options!  You can choose to pick up your firearm from us in Milford, CT and request that your magazine(s) be limited to 10 rounds.  For a nominal fee we will make this permanent modification for you, opening up a whole new realm of firearm choices.  Please see our FFL  page for more details.  Your other option, including those in states other than Connecticut, is to purchase your firearm and simply leave the magazine(s) with your FFL and purchase aftermarket 10 round magazines from us or another shop.

I live in Connecticut. How do I purchase body armor?  If you're asking this question you already know that Connecticut is the only state that requires body armor to be purchased in person.  Luckily for you we're here too!  Place your order as normal and it will be shipped to us in Milford, CT instead of to you.  You can then pick up your order from us in person.  Please know that you must present a valid Connecticut firearms permit in order to pick up your body armor.

Why do I have to pay shipping costs if I'm picking up my firearm in Milford, CT?  All firearms and merchandise are shipped from our network of warehouses across the country.  No inventory is kept in Milford, CT.  The shipping cost is for delivery of the firearm from the appropriate warehouse to Milford, CT.

Why am I being charged a second shipping fee?  When you are purchasing multiple items, they are occasionally not all available from the same warehouse.  In these rare cases you are unfortunately charged an additional shipping fee.

What happens to unclaimed items?  Items received by Swamp Yankee Firearms will be held free of charge for up to 30 days pending pickup and/or transfer to the customer.  Items held over 30 days will be charged a storage fee of $1 per day retroactive to the date the item was received unless prior arrangements have been made.  Any item held over 60 days will be considered abandoned and become property of Swamp Yankee Firearms unless prior arrangements have been made.  By you selecting to have your item delivered to Swamp Yankee Firearms you agree to these terms and conditions.
